Serving our community is truly a blessing, and we genuinely love hosting our annual Back to School Shoe Drive. It doesn’t feel like we have been doing this event for seven years, but we have and this year was as incredible as previous years!
This year was very similar to previous years, as the need in our area continues to be present. We received 160 requests from 58 families for help this summer and were able to fill every request that we received. That means that we were able to purchase and provide 160 brand new pairs of sneakers to youth!
As you can imagine, accomplishing this is no small feat! Every year, we set aside Labor Day to host this event, and it is a true labor of love! Our volunteers sorted through 160 requests to create shopping lists, scoured countless retailers to find the perfect shoe, sorted all our purchases, and packed shoes for our families in bags. This process takes hours and none of it would be possible without our dedicated team of volunteers!
We also had countless donors who donated shoes or money to allow us to purchase shoes. Our friends at Colonial Florist & Gifts in Millville served as a drop-off location and we cannot thank them enough for providing their space for our work. This entire venture is funded entirely by donations from our supporters who understand the importance of kids starting the school year off in a stylish pair of new sneakers.
We would also like to thank our families for continuing to trust us to help in your time of need. We pride ourselves in providing confidential mutual aid and your trust means the world to us!
